Series of HSBC Asian Rugby

Another series of HSBC Asian Rugby -7 were held In Thailand on 21/22 September 2013. The tournament was attended by 12 major men’s teams of Asian Sevens Series (HSBC A7S), invited four men’s teams and 12 women’s teams. That tournament was on of the first two top ranking tournaments in Asia scheduled for this year.Thailand Sevens is the largest Sevens tournament held by HSBC Asian Sevens Series. Another important moment of the tournament was the decision of International Rugby Board , that two best men’s team will have a chance to play in qualifying games this year, to win their ticket for World Series 2014/2015 in March 2014. Among a number of invited teams, Uzbekistan for the first time took part in such a prestigious tournament. Our team was invited as a debutant of HSBC Asian Sevens Series without any ranking points yet. Along with our team countries such as Laos, Cambodia and India also participated for the first time in this tournament. National team of Uzbekistan played three games in the subgroup on the first day. After losing two matches against more experienced teams of India and Laos, we had a draw with Cambodia. The second day of the competition turned out to be more complicated, and as a result, our team performed unsuccessfully in the qualifying games of the series. Despite the unsatisfactory results of the tournament, the main goal of taking part in such kind of competitions was gaining huge experience on international arena. We hope that our team will continue to prepare more thoroughly for the tournaments and will delight their fans with bright and beautiful game and victories on international arena.
